DR. MURIELLE BEENE HONORED WITH THE FRIENDS OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE’S 2024 NURSING INFORMATICS AWARD
Bethesda, October 17, 2023 — Murielle Beene, D.N.P., M.B.A., M.P.H., M.S., R.N., N.I.-B.C., P.M.P., F.A.M.I.A., F.A.A.N., Senior Vice President and Chief Health Informatics Officer at Trinity Health, an outstanding leader in the field of nursing and health informatics in the US and around the world, will be honored with the Friends of the National Library of Medicine’s (FNLM) Nursing Informatics Award at their 2024 Awards Gala.
The Friends of the NLM Awards Gala will be held starting at 6:00 PM ET on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Registration is open to all.
“Dr. Murielle Beene richly deserves this award” said the Friends of the NLM’s President, Barbara Redman. “Her leadership in the adoption of virtual technologies in nursing has been lauded by the nursing informatics profession”.
Dr. Beene is Senior Vice President and Chief Health Informatics Officer for Trinity Health, one of the nation’s largest Catholic health care delivery systems, which serves diverse communities, including 1.6 million attributed lives across 27 states, at 101 hospitals, 126 continuing care locations, the second largest PACE program in the country, and 136 urgent care locations. Prior to joining Trinity Health, she was Chief Nursing Informatics Officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dr. Beene holds the health care industry’s highest-ranking informatics professional designation, which combines health information technology acumen and strong leadership skills to improve outcomes, reduce costs and empower patients. At Trinity Health she provides vital and visionary leadership in communicating complex trends to influence change and improve the impact of health informatics on systems of care. Dr. Beene also plays a pivotal role in selecting, deploying, re-engineering, evaluating, and optimizing health care technologies such as electronic health records (EHRs), clinician communication devices, mobile applications, health care portals and digital health platforms.
The Friends of the NLM’s Annual Awards recognize scientific and medical leaders who have made significant contributions to health care, biomedical science, librarianship, and public health. These life changing awardees are our contemporaries and the Friends of the NLM has the honor of thanking them.
